Tenuta Tre Gemme (Abruzzo, Italy)

Tenuta Tre Gemme is a family-run winery in Catignano, in the hills of Abruzzo, where the Perrucci family has been farming vineyards for generations. The estate was built up by Rocco Perrucci, affectionately known throughout the village as “Don Rocco”, who transformed the family's land into a substantial agricultural estate in the 1960s. For many years the winery's excellent wines were sold mainly in bulk, supplying wine to producers and bottlers elsewhere.
The story took a new direction when Rocco's daughters Carla and Anna Perrucci took over the family business in 2018. In 2020, they embarked on a major renovation of the winery and created the Tenuta Tre Gemme brand, deciding to bottle the best of their own production under the family name. Carla, who is the CEO, brings her background in management and finance, while Anna, also CEO, is particularly involved in the technical side of winemaking, with more than 25 vintages of experience. The next generation is already represented by Chiara Bocci, who is involved in developing new ideas for the estate.
It is therefore very much a winery run by women, but one that remains deeply connected to the family's heritage. The sisters see themselves not simply as owners, but as custodians of the land they inherited from their father and will eventually pass on to the next generation. Their new Renascenzia range – meaning “rebirth” – is a particularly fitting expression of this philosophy.

WineProvisionShop discovered Tenuta Tre Gemme in 2025 through a personal connection with Chef Beppe in Singapore. After tasting the wines, we were impressed by their combination of authentic Abruzzo character, modern winemaking and excellent value.
The estate today encompasses around 70 hectares of organically farmed vineyards, situated between the Adriatic and the Gran Sasso and Maiella mountains. The combination of altitude, cool nights and constant breezes provides excellent conditions for Montepulciano, Cerasuolo, Pecorino and the other local varieties.
The wine that particularly caught our attention is Don Rocco, the estate's Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva and a tribute to the sisters' father. It comes from their oldest, approximately 40-year-old vines, with very low yields and painstaking hand harvesting. The wine receives extensive maturation in concrete and oak before spending further time in bottle, resulting in a powerful, concentrated Montepulciano with impressive depth and ageing potential.
And Don Rocco is not just the symbolic flagship: it has received numerous international awards, including a Gold Medal at Mundus Vini, while subsequent vintages have continued to receive recognition from competitions and wine guides. The 2020 vintage, for example, received a Silver Medal at the 2026 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
For us, Tenuta Tre Gemme is an exciting example of a new generation of Italian family wineries: a traditional estate given a new lease of life by two sisters who are bringing their family's wines to a much wider audience, while remaining firmly rooted in the land and the wines of Abruzzo.
