Tenuta Tre Gemme – Montepulciano D'Abruzzo DON ROCCO 2019
New winery!
Tre Gemme's tribute to "DON ROCCO" Perrucci, the founder. The grapes come from a 40-year-old vineyard, hand-picked at optimal ripeness.
Tasting Notes
The aromatic profile of this wine is extremely complex. Marasca and cherries in spirit, blackberry and wild berries, hints of undergrowth, tobacco, coffee, dark chocolate. A slight balsamic note makes the retronasal aroma intriguing. In the mouth, it is ample and powerful, tannins still vibrant and well-integrated.
Vineyard
40-year-old at 350 m, limestone and clay
Vinification
The must is left on the skins for 15 days: vinification takes place in stainless steel, at a controlled fermentation temperature of 22-24°C. Maturation begins in underground-built cement tanks where the wine rests for 12 months. Thereafter, the wine evolves for a further 24 months in middle-toasted French oak barriques and big shelf life barrels of Slavonian oak. 6 more months in bottle.
Colour
Intense ruby red color
Food Pairing
Excellent with salami and lardo di colonnata. Pasta with beef ragu sauce, pappardelle with duck, risotto or polenta with mushrooms. Grilled steak and game, braised lamb, glazed pork
