Majnoni Guicciardini – Chianti Superiore 2019

Majnoni Guicciardini Chianti Superiore 2019 is a classic, organic Tuscan red from the hills of the Elsa Valley, produced primarily from Sangiovese with Colorino and other traditional Tuscan varieties. The estate deliberately leaves the skins in contact with the riper grapes for longer maceration, extracting colour, structure and polyphenols while retaining the lively character typical of Sangiovese.

The wine shows an appealing profile of ripe red cherries, raspberries and red berries, complemented by hints of tobacco, subtle oak, coffee, cocoa and earthy, mineral tones. On the palate it is dry, lively and well structured, with bright Sangiovese acidity, fine-grained tannins and a savoury finish. The fruit remains at the centre, but the earthy and lightly spicy nuances give the wine considerably more depth than a simple, young Chianti.

A traditional, gastronomic Chianti Superiore rather than a heavily oaked modern Tuscan red, it is particularly well suited to pasta with tomato-based sauces, grilled or roasted meats, charcuterie and mature cheeses. The 2019 vintage is now at a stage where the wine's fruit, acidity and tannic structure should be coming together nicely, making it an excellent food-friendly Tuscan red with several years of further development ahead.
