20% OFF – NOW ONLY S$29.60 (UP: S$37)! Beautifully Mature Franconian Pinot Noir 2018 – Elegant, Silky, Wonderfully Aromatic and Full of Character!
Castell Spätburgunder 2018 is a beautifully elegant German Pinot Noir from the historic Fürstlich Castell'sche Domäne in Franconia, northern Bavaria. Crafted from 100% Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), this refined red combines the delicate fruit character of Burgundy's celebrated grape with the distinctive freshness and elegance of Franconian terroir.
The vineyards surrounding Castell are characterised by gypsum-rich Keuper soils, contributing subtle mineral and savoury nuances. The warm 2018 vintage encouraged excellent ripeness, giving this Pinot Noir generous fruit character while retaining its characteristic finesse.
The wine displays a brilliant ruby-red colour with developing garnet reflections and an inviting bouquet of ripe red cherries, raspberries, wild strawberries and violets, complemented by dried herbs, forest floor, gentle spice and earthy nuances. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, silky and beautifully balanced, with mellow red fruit, refreshing acidity, fine tannins and an elegant, savoury finish.
Beautifully mature at eight years old in 2026! This charming Pinot Noir offers an appealing combination of ripe fruit and developing tertiary complexity, with delicate notes of dried cherries, autumn leaves and subtle spice. Well-stored bottles can offer particularly rewarding drinking now.
A wonderfully refined Franconian Pinot Noir – elegant, harmonious and a delightful alternative to mature Burgundy!
